animal research 1a.jpg Research activity involving animals is subject to state and federal regulations. The EH&S Biosafety Program works in conjunction with the FIU Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) to provide guidelines and procedures to ensure that all students and employees involved in animal research activities understand and comply with the regulatory requirements.

Prior to working with research animals, all faculty, staff and students are required to enroll in the EH&S Occupational Health and Safety Program (OHSP). This program is intended to assure that employees and students are afforded the opportunity to identify potentially hazardous exposures, practices, and procedures which could compromise their health. For information on the program and how to enroll, please visit the EH&S OHSP webpage: http://ehs.fiu.edu/Programs/BioSafety/Pages/Occupational-Health-Safety.aspx
