Lockout/Tagout

Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) is the control of hazardous energy. The program is in place to set a standard on how to protect employees from injury during the servicing and maintenance of machines and equipment with energy sources such as electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, chemical, nuclear, thermal, or other sources of energization.

    • An employee who locks out and/or tags out machines or equipment to perform servicing or maintenance on tha tmachine or equipment. 
      • Examples: Facilities maintenance personnel, contractors, electricians, etc.
  • Lockout/Tagout Training - Affected/Other Employees
    • An employee whose job requires him/her to operate or use a machine/equipment on which servicing, or maintenance is being performed under lockout or tagout (LOTO). 
    • An employee whose work activities are or may be in an area where lockout or tagout procedures may be utilized.
